Ready Steady Light
The SLL Ready Steady Light is an annual lighting design competition organised by the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL), bringing together students and professionals from the lighting and design industries. I had the unique opportunity to participate in this event, which allowed me to showcase creativity, technical skill, and teamwork in a live, hands-on setting.
In the competition, our team was assigned a brief and a specific outdoor site to illuminate. With limited resources and just a few hours to create a lighting scheme, we designed and implemented an installation that enhanced the aesthetic and functional qualities of the site - all without prior preparation or knowledge of the location.
Our final design was evaluated by judges on creativity, technical execution and sustainability. Ready Steady Light was an invaluable experience, celebrating innovation, creativity and practical skills, and it gave me a fresh perspective on landscape lighting.
