Objective: Collaborate on Stage 2 (Concept Design) and Stage 5 (Completion) of the lighting design for the Medieval Woman exhibition, focusing on creating a lighting scheme that enhances the storytelling of women’s roles in medieval society, while ensuring the preservation and visibility of key exhibits.
Scope:
. Lighting Design Collaboration (Stages 2 and 5): Contributed to the conceptualisation and finalisation of the lighting design, ensuring the lighting effectively highlights the exhibition’s thematic exploration of medieval women and their contributions across various fields.
. Exhibit Highlighting: Designed and implemented lighting to focus on key artefacts, manuscripts, and visual displays, ensuring each item’s historical context and significance were emphasised without compromising conservation needs.
. Atmosphere and Immersion: Developed a lighting design that complements the historical narrative, using subtle, atmospheric lighting to evoke the medieval era while providing clarity for the artefacts, enhancing the overall visitor experience.
. Technical Execution: Worked closely with the technical team to finalise lighting placements and intensities, ensuring optimal performance throughout the exhibition’s duration while adhering to conservation standards.
Outcome:
A thoughtfully executed lighting design that enriched the Medieval Woman exhibition, helping to bring the stories of medieval women to life through impactful and sensitive lighting that highlighted key objects while maintaining the integrity of the artifacts.
