This research explores the impact of lighting on the perception of contemporary paintings, focusing on how different lighting conditions, tailored to the chromatic composition of the artwork, influence viewers' perceptual and emotional responses.
The experiment, conducted at the Gillian Jason Gallery, involved illuminating three paintings under three distinct lighting conditions and gathering participants' responses through a structured questionnaire. The objective was to investigate whether lighting designed in accordance to the pigments and intended artistic message of each painting could enhance vividness, brightness, and emotional engagement, thereby influencing overall viewer preference.
