Lighting Design Collaboration for John Constable and David Lucas: A Unison of Feeling exhibition

Objective: Contribute to the Stage 5 (Completion) lighting design for John Constable and David Lucas: A Unison of Feeling, an exhibition exploring the artistic collaboration between Constable and the printmaker David Lucas. The aim was to implement a final lighting scheme that supports the nuanced presentation of works on paper and printed material.
Scope:
. Final Delivery and On-Site Adjustments (Stage 5): Supported the installation phase by refining fixture positions, intensity levels, and distribution to ensure the delicate prints and works on paper were lit with appropriate softness, clarity, and conservation-compliant levels.
. Technical Coordination: Worked with Lucy to address practical constraints on-site, achieving a balanced visual environment that reveals fine detail without introducing glare or unevenness. Different colour temperatures were used for each room to create unique identities following the content narrative.
Outcome:
A fine lighting scheme that enhances the subtle tonal qualities of Constable and Lucas’s works, providing visitors with a clear, engaging, and sensitive viewing experience in line with curatorial and conservation requirements.
